Durability Heavy use Learn more
Pile Height

mm

The length of the tuft from the primary backing to the tip.

All other factors being equal, the higher the pile height, the better the foot feel and durability.

Weight

25oz/yd²

The unit volume of carpet per square yard. More weight means more yarn. More yarn makes for a longer-lasting product.

Density

5/32nd

The distance between needles. 1/10thgauge means there is 10 needles per inch.
The closer the tufts are to each other, the denser the pile and the less weight each individual tuft has to support.

Carpet Features Learn more

Clean Easy carpets include our comprehensive range of solution-dyed nylon products due to their ability to handle high-strength chemical cleaning products with ease.

When life happens, carpets respond to stains based on the fibre they are made of. Solution-dyed nylon carpets can handle high-strength cleaning products, and bounce back to their original state with little to no impact on the carpet’s colour. Wool tends to require a gentler touch: stains can certainly be removed from wool carpets, but using chemical-free, steam-based methods is the way to go.

If you’re looking for a carpet for a high-traffic or spill-prone area that’s particularly susceptible to staining, solution-dyed nylon offers you quick, easy cleaning options and will come up looking fresh again and again.

Fade Free carpets include our comprehensive range of solution-dyed nylon products due to their ability to resist harsh UV for longer than other fibres.

The flip side of sun-soaked living spaces is the potential that textiles and carpets will fade over time.

Unfortunately, the sun in the southern hemisphere is particularly harsh. The thinner ozone layer over New Zealand, and our cleaner air, mean we have less of a barrier between UV light and the carpet in our homes.

All carpet will eventually fade, but solution-dyed nylon carpets are constructed with a sealed colour-coating that resists fading for longer.

Due to the natural fibres that make wool carpets so plush, colour sits on the outside of the fibre — so rich coloured wool carpets are more susceptible to fading over time. Every carpet in our range will last for years, but some fibres will perform better than others in areas where UV exposure is particularly harsh.

Heat Hearty carpets include our extensive range of wool carpets due to their superior response to direct heat and flame.

In the unfortunate event that a carpet comes into contact with direct heat, no carpet fibre will come out entirely unscathed. Flames, hot pans or irons and carpets simply don’t mix.

While wool carpets will singe slightly, the actual fibres of
solution-dyed nylon carpets will melt when in contact with extreme heat.

Choose wool carpet to provide an extra layer of insurance against fire (or forgetfulness!).

Pest Proof carpets include our comprehensive range of solution-dyed nylon products due to their natural resistance to bugs and pests.

While relatively uncommon, there are several species of insects, including the notorious Carpet Beetle (Attagenus Megatoma), that eat away at the structure of a carpet, compromising the look of your space and making it more susceptible to future pests.

When bugs look for a carpet to eat, they steer clear of man-made fibres, making solution-dyed nylon an attractive option for properties looking for extra protection against insects.

Claw Friendly carpets include our range of cut-pile solution-dyed nylon and woollen carpets due to their superior performance against pet claws.

Over time, pet claws can catch in the loops of loop-pile carpet, slowly fraying and even ripping out the loops. Cats might even mistake loop-pile carpet for a wall-to-wall scratch pad.

If pets with claws are active users of your home and spending a lot of time on your carpet, choosing a cut pile option could increase the longevity of your floor.

Allergy Friendly carpets include our comprehensive range of solution-dyed nylon carpets due to their reduced allergenic triggers.

Even with the most dutiful carpet-care regime, microscopic dust particles will become trapped in carpet fibres.

While every person’s allergic profile is unique, natural wool fibres can trigger reactions more commonly than synthetic solution-dyed nylon.

For spaces used by those particularly prone to allergies or asthma, choosing a solution-dyed nylon carpet will heavily reduce, if not eliminate the possibilities of a negative reaction.

Anti-shade carpets include our extensive selection of loop pile carpets and our commercially rated low pile, high density cut-pile carpets.

Depending on the way the light catches cut-pile carpets, they are prone to a phenomenon known as carpet shading, tracking, pooling or pile-reversal.

Although it’s naturally occurring, it can appear as if water has spilled or pooled in some areas of the carpet, simply because of the way light catches a change or bend in the direction the pile naturally sits.

Difficult to understand and nearly impossible to predict, the effects of shading cannot be fully known until a carpet is installed in a space.

Loop-pile carpets have a static state, making them immune to shading, but all cut-pile carpets will be affected by shading in some way.

On the continuum, the most plush cut-pile options with the lowest twist rating are most prone to extreme shading, whereas in lower pile options with a hard twist, shading will be less visible.

To avoid shadows altogether, choose a loop pile carpet!

Breathable carpets include our extensive selection of woollen carpets.

The structure of the natural fibres that make up a wool carpet enable them to trap air in microscopic pockets that maintain a constant temperature year-round.

This means that wool carpet is essentially self-insulating, and will keep your feet both warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Local carpets are those in our range manufactured from start to finish here in New Zealand.

Whenever possible, we love staying close to the source.

Our range of carpets includes a number that are made and manufactured locally in New Zealand.

These carpets give back to our economy at every step of the way and steer clear of the delays that are possible with off-shore production.

Sustainable carpets include our extensive selection of woolen carpets.

Wool is constantly regenerating on flocks and in paddocks across the world, making it one of the most naturally sustainable fibres available.

Its naturally biodegradable properties also give wool a low environmental footprint, making it a great choice for both your home and the earth.

Anti-static carpets include our extensive selection of solution dyed nylon carpets.

The friction caused by shoes and feet against a carpet floor can cause static buildup in any carpet, causing an unexpected zap from time to time.

Both wool and solution-dyed nylon carpets can be treated to reduce this, but nylon always performs better in resisting static buildup.

Our entire range of solution-dyed nylon carpets are treated and tested as low-static options.
